CNTC organizers met with Teaming for Technology on February 4th, to explore overlapping goals and ways we might support one another. This is a summary of the points from the meeting.
There's a great deal of overlap in the aims of T4T and CNTC. Both seek to promote wise use of technology by nonprofits in Colorado. Both groups can easily support each others' efforts via regular communication, sharing of training space and resources, and expanding training topics and staff...
CNTC Goals
- Support use and understanding of technology, by Colorado Nonprofits
- Provide regular meetup events for learning, sharing best practices, meeting others in the field
- Be a resource for more formal training, through groups like T4T, at area events, and independently
T4T Goals
- Hold software trainings and classes
- Grant IBM hardware in an annual equipment+education program (TechLaunch)
- Help Colorado nonprofits use and understand technology
To help support T4T, CNTC can:
- Get involved as trainers in T4T curriculum
- Provide training on additional topics
- Expand geographic reach (local training in other areas)
- Contribute to T4T online knowledge base (write articles for their website)
- Hold regular social meetups, to improve communication and connection among NPO tech folks
- Promote T4T events, programs, and resources
To help support CNTC, T4T can:
- Share training space, both at T4T and in some area NPO computer labs
- Share online resources (training calendar, online signup and payment)
- Promote local meetup events via website, calendar, and email
Next Steps:
- CNTC training leads connect with Andy @ T4T, to explore getting CNTC folks involved with T4T training, and using their facilities for independent events
- CNTC training leads connect with Steve Kessler, who is active with both CNTC and T4T
- CTNC and T4T staff maintain open communication regarding upcoming events and resources of interest
