Free laptops, desktops, and printers?! No way!
Yes way! Here's how:
TechLaunch2010!
Teaming for Technology's TechLaunch program gives qualified organizations new IBM equipment at no cost! Teaming for Technology (T4T) Colorado has given ~$75,000 worth of new hardware each year to Colorado 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations since 1999!
Organizations are chosen for the program based on their need and how they fit with certain criteria. Recipients could receive laptops, desktop computers, printers, servers, Young Explorers, or even vouchers for free T4T tech classes!
Looking for something to do tonight?
Tonight, July 6, BDNT is hosting "A Night of Participation".
It’s a simple way to get major karma points, so you can slack off for the rest of the summer.
The nights agenda:
We are lining up multiple NonProfits who will present New Tech style, but with a twist. Once all of the groups are finished on the podium, 2 minutes each instead of 5, then it's time to start generating those karma points by solving the NonProfits tech issues.
What to bring:
Your laptops, power chords and favorite IDE. New Tech will provide the beer, pizza and late night snacks.

What's new in 2010?
What's happening with CNTC?
Following a round of successful meetups last summer and fall, we've been focusing on our own organizations and gearing up for these exciting 2010 additions:
~ Bi-weekly roundup of interesting nonprofit/tech events in Colorado
~ Volunteer opportunity spotlight
~ Training opportunity spotlight
~ An email list, for discussion of technology issues with your Colorado NPO amigos
~ A fresh series of topical meetups
Look for them this summer!
Notes and Links: Social Media Planning and Monitoring
Thanks to everyone who attended our July 7th meetup, "Social Media Planning and Monitoring". We had a full house. Overfull, really. Most everyone was using social media with their organizations and clients, and a few veterans have been using it for a year or more. Some were already doing a bit of monitoring and shared their tools and thoughts, and we had a helpful presentation on social media planning by the Denver DataMan, Steve Kessler.
Partnering Meeting with CNA/CANPO
CNTC organizers met April 21st, with Sara Raab from the Colorado Nonprofit Association, to discuss shared goals and ways we can support one another. Our goals are very much in line, and CNTC was received favorably, especially as a resource for presentation and training at the CNA fall nonprofit summit (October 29, 30 in Denver).
Notes and Links: Web-Based Mapping
May 5th, Denver-area nonprofit staff and technical consultants met to discuss web-based mapping and view a few interesting projects.
General Notes
Some of the most difficult work is not the mapping, but getting the data together and convincing people to cooperate.
Sometimes you just need a good one-off way to map 1 or 10 or 100 addresses, not a full data integration setup.
Always keep the end user and their needs in mind. Know your audience. Keep the interface simple. Don't design autocad for the web; most people will be confused by maps and sites with a million features.
Data Warehousing, Part VI: Nonprofit BI
Here are some links I drudged up tonight just for anyone who has a few moments of spare time. Which...comes rarely these days for me. I'd love to chat about any of them if the mood swings that way.
1. NetSquared Interview from last year with a major BI vendor.
http://www.netsquared.org/blog/britt-bravo/business-intelligence-nonprof...
2. Blackbaud white paper on "Business intelligence for nonprofits." Perhaps defunct now. I couldn't find a straight link like I could last year. But the marketing material is still useful I think.
Data Warehousing, Part V: Small and Agile
(This was originally posted to the NTEN Data Warehousing group list, by Nate Wilbert. Nate has kindly allowed us to publish his work here.)
I received an email today about an NTEN webinar with the headline "Bust Those Silos: Reporting Across Multiple Systems." This was interesting to me because I thought, great! Someone is going to talk about data warehousing! Well, not quite I think.
